UNISA Application Requirement

Just like every university, UNISA has its set of prerequisite requirements that opens the wider door for one to apply and admission is solely dependent on it.

It is required of any person applying for UNISA admission to have;

  • A copy of your school qualification that is Senior Certificate, National Senior Certificate.
  • If applicable, a copy of your official Tertiary academic records. Internet copies will be declined.
  • A copy of your ID document if a South African and ID passport if an international student.
  • If applicable, a copy of the marriage certificate or a divorce decree.
  • If languages are not in English or Afrikaans, a sworn translation of the document is required.

What Do You Need To Apply

Before applying even after meeting the admission requirement, make sure you have;

  • You have met the statutory and college admission requirements for your qualification(s) of choice.
  • You have met the minimum Academic Point Score (APS) for qualification of choice.
  • That you have a valid email address and an active phone number. Make sure to provide a single email address and an active cell number.

Before You Submit Documents, Make Sure;

  • The file is not larger than 2MB or 2048KB.
  • Files submitted should be in black and white.
  • Only these types of files are accepted that is PDF (Adobe Acrobat Portable Document Format file), DOC (Word document file) or TIF (image file).

Unisa Application – How To Apply On Both Online/Offline

Applicants, first-timers, or UNISA students commencing a new program are expected to submit all required documents before the due date. All admissions submitted later than this specified date will be rejected.

The university will not provide you with a scanner or any electronic device but ensure that all documents are scanned and uploaded to an electronic device even before starting the application process.

Applicants enrolling for Technical Vocational Education and Training (Tvet) college under the Unisa-TVET agreement should apply through the relevant TVET college or online through Unisa.

Application Fee

The application fee must be paid once an applicant receives a student number from UNISA. 

As of November 2021, the fee for an online application was R120,00. The applicant then is required to use the student’s number they received from the university with the application fee reference (STUDENT NUMBER 5370810030).

It must be noted that the closing date of payment of the application fee is the same as the due date of admission hence any document submitted without the payment of the application fee and its proof will not be processed.

UNISA Registration

The registration processes for the first semester began on 4th January and close on 24th January 2022.

To register, log in to;

  1. Visit https://www.unisa.ac.za/sites/corporate/default/Apply-for-admission
  2. Choose your qualification and level.
  3. Click on the ‘Go’ link which takes you to the UNISA web registration page.
  4. Proceed after answering the questions.
  5. Enter student’s number and all other relevant details asked.
  6. Click the modules you want, making sure you don’t exceed your limit for the term.
  7. Calculate your study fees.
  8. Submit for evaluation.

  3. Note that you will be sent an email, traditional letter or an SMS once your study materials have been posted. This will include a track and trace number of the parcel and the due arrival date.

UNISA opened the online application for the 2022-2023 academic year from 11th August 2021 through to 12th November 2021.

Late admission and slots will be announced if there are still available spaces for the academic year.

Requirements for Higher Certificates, Advanced Certificates, and Degree Programmes Include;

  • The applicant should have a National Senior Certificate where all the subjects are appropriately combined and significantly endorsed, and that is for an undergraduate program.
  • For Advanced Certificate, the minimum entry requirement is a Higher Certificate in the designated field.
  • For applicants who had an international education via the O and A Level system, they should have in their possession a combination of both levels of subjects to apply for undergraduate programs.

Honors and Postgraduate Diploma Programmes

  • For such programs, the minimum entry requirement is a Bachelor’s Degree or an Advanced Diploma.

How To Access MyNSFAS Account

To create your NSFAS account is as simple as reciting the alphabet. All an applicant with the scheme needs first and foremost is to create an email account. Remember your passwords must be strong to help your security system.

SARS which stands for the South African Revenue Services was birthed in 1997 following the merger of the inland revenue departments and customs.   3. Once here, check the page immediate page which has items like ‘Provisional Tax and Individual Income Tax’ with boxes beside them
  4. If there are no checks in those boxes, with no reference numbers, it means the profile is still in the process of verification
  5. If you click on Home and see ‘Pending Registration’, it also means the profile is still in the process of verification

What is SARS Registration Notice?

The SARS Registration Notice is the official confirmation that proves that an individual or a company has registered for a tax. This is a notice sent to them to that effect.

As of October 2021, eFiling has enhanced the functionality of registration. This is to mean that, it has VAT and PIT by extension now includes CIT, PAYE and Trusts. Persons who now use the eFiling service have the luxury of accessing all the various tax types via their registration notices.

  3. Download the SARS mobile app, create an account and request a statement

How To Check SARS Status

To check your SARS status, you have to first activate your Compliance Profile through the e-Filing. The MCP acts as a tool that gives taxpayers insight into what is expected of them and what is not. It provides them with a means that equips them with so much information as to where they can fault and what they can do if things are not sitting well with them.

To activate the MCP, you first have to;

  1. Log on to the e-Filing page https://www.sarsefiling.co.za/
  2. Note that you have to be registered on at least one tax product to be able to use MCP
  3. Once opened, you can access the MCP now by selecting it from the menu
